World of Advertisements

Advertisements. Full of gimmics or one may say full of deceptions! We watch it and the thought of owning that product, grabbing and feeling it in our own hands with joy irritates us like a fly buzzing around our face and a mosquito ringing around our ears when we're asleep (ughh...how annoying). Sometimes even in our dreams we imagine ourselves owning it (I want a DSLR!! Give me one....!! or tomorrow morning I've got to go try McBreakfast's Egg McMuffin!!). But no doubt, without advertisements, how less colourful our world would have been? Advertising is indeed an art with abundance of creativity and innovation. No advertisement = a boring life. Think about it, we wouldn't know who is Charmaine Sheh, Raymond Lam, Jackie Chan, Tavia Yeung, Joey Yung bla bla if they were not marketed and advertised by TVB and EEG right? And how boring my life would have been without them!!??

This semester, I am taking Marketing as a subject. Marketing concerns very much on advertising, but of course that's not all there is to marketing. It also concerns other stuffs, which I shall not discuss further to bore you guys/gals to sleep. One of my requirements of the course is....hahha...watch more TV, do more shopping and observe the advertisements around you! Haha. Wow, how often I have the chance to watch more TV and shopping, then tell mummy when she nags, "It has to do with my studies!!!" Well I'm saying this only metaphorically as my mum do not actually restrict me. Yeah! Best mum!

Who else should I start from watching commercials if not the Queen of Commercial herself : Joey Yung? Just search 'rong zu er CM' and you may be shocked with the number of commercials available. Haha. Also since her Broadway advertisements that she filmed was just released, so why not start from her? Remember me mentioning about hanging wires, playing with water and stuff? Here are some advertisements including the latest Broadway ones and some other commercials. I have to say, marketers are getting increasingly creative nowadays. And one of the pioneer has to be (IMO) McDonalds.

Broadway Summer 2009 Commercial

Commercial 1: Poolside take. I love the opening...butterfly Joey!

Commercial 2: Dancing and the hanging wire take (I'm impressed!) Video editing can be so cool!

Commercial 3: Wire hanging plus Wet Look take!

Commercial 4: Free gifts take

Broadway has improved in their creativity in their commercials I have to admit. This year's ones are pretty good compared to earlier years. Here's an example:

And here is one of the Broadway Commercials that I like from 2007. Looks really Cool.

Besides Braodway, Joey is also the spokesperson of countless brands. Citizen, Mioggi, McDonald's, Coca Cola , Reebok, bird's nest, mooncake etc. That's why she's named the Queen of Commercials. Haha. McDonald's marketing skills are really great. Many creative gimmics and ideas. For example, asking Moses to go on the street and do a random coffee tasting to advertise McCafe or recently asking Eason, Joey and Jerry Lam etc to send McDeliveries. Here's the clip for Joey's McDelivery adventure!

And not to mention her many Shake Shake Fries Commercials throughout the years.... this is the one I like the most.

Marketing is not always marketing a product though. Ideas, services and support can be marketed too! For example,

Election day....haha. Politics need marketing too!

Public Transport System!

My point here is that whether we like it or not, marketing has become a part of our daily life. We are greatly affected by it whether consciously or sub-consciously. Maybe try experimenting how much are you affected by marketing? Start with basics like what brand of clothing are you wearing now, the brand of your cellphone, laptop, toothpaste, watch, facial cleanser and planning what to have for dinner tonight? Hehehe. Wonderful world we have here. The more they market, the more choice and variety (as consumers) we have to enjoy with! Yeah!

P.S. If you are interested in watching various adertisements maybe from your other favourite artiste like Kate Tsui, Tavia Yeung, Twins, Vincy Chan, Fala Chen etc. Then this youtube user's videos are a good resource! Have a look at his/her channel http://www.youtube.com/user/ytchina1949

Charmaine@Singapore Promotion Interview!

Here are some interview clips in English ala Mandarin of Charmaine when she was in Singapore last week for TVB Promotion! No comments about the mix of languages. Haha. It just shows how often they converse in English daily.

Find Me A Boyfriend!

Uglify Me!

Ah Sheh!! Wait till you come to Penang! Then you will know what real 'Laksa' is! Hahahaha. I gotta tell her that when I see her next time! Charmaine looks very pretty and elegant there! Oooh...I see Pat Pat and the rest holding up the banners there! Great Job!

Clips Worth Watching #14

Clips Worth Watching #14!! What does clips from this post feature? Haha. Well, this post will feature clips that I uploaded myself! Hahaha. Why waste uploading and not sharing it here with you all right? Ahem. I will explain the contents of each clip below the embedded clip!

Joey Yung the Making of 搜神記 MV

30's Shanghainese Joey!!?? Japan-Caucasian male model!? Check that out! The making of Joey's currently hit song across Asia 'sau san gei'. The male model was selected by Joey and her manager Mani. Ahem, and yet Joey says she don't adore cute guys. Hahaha. Unless she consider that guy not cute! Check out Joey speaking canto mix English to that guy-->"yi wui...you know what that means?". He must be clueless listening to Joey's instructions. Hahaha.

McDonald's 'Shake Shake Fries' Themesong MV Comments

Joey commenting on her Commercial cap MV because of the popularity of the song. Somehow Joey spoke like a little child in this video. Haha. And not to mention her funny 'perasan-ness' when she said everytime she hear this song and this lady singing with such a lovely melody, and then realised Eh! That's me singing! Hahaha. And watch the MV! There's certain sacrifice made by someone into making it! Hahaha.

Solar Project 2009 Coverage

First, watch Vincy, GEM, William etc dancing! And also together with Joey, Hins and Fiona playing 'Sau Min Kau' (A ball game from Japan which I think is Softball...not too sure). Hahaha. I wonder how Joey's hat sticks to her head and not fall off? Hahaha. JK...of course she may pin it or something. Seems like Fung Fung influenced Si Jie to wear hat also already....Hahaha.

Sonija Kwok Sabah Trip Interview

A special interview of Sonija when she came to Malaysia recently. Why watch this? Just look at Sonija 上当!!!(got tricked) I was expecting her to eat the Polo Buns! Hahaha. Watch it to know what I meant. And if you watch it closely, you can see the scar on her hand which is quite visible from the 'maid bite' incident. Poor girl. And also, tomorrow is Sonija's birthday! So Happy Birthday Sonija!!! May the coming year be a happy, healthy and smooth year for you!

Ivy : Alrighty then! Enjoy the clips! Will update more of my blog ASAP!!

Top 50 Hong Kong Most Beautiful Actresses(Under 40)

Here's a list of top 50 of HK's most beautiful actresses under the age of 40. Its a poll conducted recently by I'm not sure which source. Browse through the list! Agree or Do Not Agree?? Haha. Well for me, I'm actually more interested in looking at their country of origin and their height. And I realise, well I'm not that short afterall! 165cm is an average height! Ah Gil's 158cm! Never realise that! She looks taller. Haha. Btw, Charmaine & Tavia's in it^^!!

Credits to QOObrethren for the prints

Other favourites of mine who are in the list are Natalie, Leila, Selina, Gigi, Shirley and Sharon!! Hehe, I know I haven't updated my blog for awhile, very sorry! Haha. I just started uni yesterday and looking at the coming workload really makes me sick. First 2 weeks of uni is usually known as the 'honeymoon' week. After that, I'm going to cry and sing 'welcome to the panda eyes...'. HAHAHA. Btw, another update coming later!! Stay tuned!

Joey Pictures *added video*

I couldn't go online for like the past few days!! Depressing!!! Haha. I don't have a line at my Penang home anymore and my mum's laptop was infected with H1N1 so I could only come back today after the laptop has been quarantined and vaccinated. Hahahaha. Luckily not much updates these few days. Only Charmaine attending Virginia Lok's birthday party and Joey shooting some ads and a radio program. Most of the news in the entertainment world are on Michael Jackson's death. What a lost to the pop music industry. Many of our fellow HK artiste already planned a trip to watch his concert but I guess no chance now. Some even bought tickets already....50 nights of concert? It sounds crazy to achieve. No wonder MJ did not have confidence to complete it. RIP MJ. Alright, I still need to give an excuse for opening a blog post right? Hahaha.

Joey filmed a Broadway ad recently. And the theme is young look, mature look, sporty look, wet look bla bla. Hahaha. Almost everything I think. LOL. She took 30 hours to film the ad and had to kick water and hang on wires for it. No wonder she kept saying stuff like "Very tired..goodnight" and "My leg is aching!!" at her Twitter last few days. Haha. So I'm sharing some Joey wallpapers here from the ad photoshoot! Enjoy!(I personally love the blue and pink dress pictures)

I added a video posted by Joey at her official website. The Making of Broadway Commercial. Must watch video! Haha. Ever wondered why artiste complain about the difficulties of 'tiu wa ya' (hanging on wires)?? After watching that video I know why. But no doubt, it looks fun and cool. Haha. Seems like flying in the air so freely. haha. But maybe coz Joey could make herself look relaxed in it. It may be a 360 degree turn if it was me on wires! hahaha. And also the slippery water part seems so fun! haha. But maybe it wouldn't be if you are actually doing it. Wonder if it is painful to fall like that? You can see Joey put much effort into filming the commercial. So lesson of the day from me? Put all your heart and effort into doing whatever task you are assigned to. If you are already required to do the task whether you like it or not, then why not make yourself happy and put your best into it right? Maybe what you don't like at first will turn out to be something you like because of a sense of achievement from your hard work!! You'll never know. Hehe.
